This is a fansite to the Japanese artist Amano Tsukiko, who put out her first single in 2001, and has since gone on to release four albums, two b-side albums, and a best album. She is not a "mainstream" artist in Japan; most Japanese do not even know her name, but her powerful voice and expressive lyrics have captured the attention of the Japanese music community in the West. Amano News - HEAVEN'S GATE Update
Old news, a bit, but the B-side for HEAVEN'S GATE is called "SEVEN to DATE", and the single is now officially everywhere on the internet. Well, most places anyway. I'm listen to it now, downloaded from the lovely music_and_more, but I believe it's also on jpoptsuki and other places. I can't wait for my actual copy to come next week, but in the mean time I'm contenting myself with hearing it.
Saeadame's First Impressions: It's definitely a rock track, that's for sure, but Amano also seems to be experimenting with background beats and so there's some cool things going on in the background too. The B-side is slower, but also has an interesting back-beat. I have to say I'm not really sure about the B-side, it just seems very average to me. HEAVEN'S CALL appears to be another great track from Amano, but SEVEN to DATE doesn't really live up to Amano B-side standard. I mean, they're only B-sides, but usually they tend to be pretty good despite that. Instead, SEVEN to DATE seems to be jumping around on the music style spectrum making it seem a little choppy and strained. Perhaps it's an experimental thing, but hopefully the next single will have a better B-side to go with the stellar A-side track.
Others Impressions: Seven to Date is....not my favorite b-side. The verse has really a really nice piano groove and the her vocals are really nice but for the chorus her voice just kind of falls back into the mix and it kind of gets really cutesy. the entire song is somewhat similar to bowling, it doesn't sound anything LIKE bowling per say, but it has a similar feeling about it, kind of a very upbeat pop song with a somewhat unique sound to it. - kuro_neko in the Voice Over Forum's HEAVEN'S GATE Post.
